  1. Distro: Void Linux (musl release)
  2.
  3. Kernel Version: 4.19.28_1
  4.
  5. Network Controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 3160 (rev 83)
  6.
  7. I tried to connect to my home wifi via NetworkManager and via wpa_supplicant & dhclient, both do not work and both return the same error msg.
  8.
  9. I cannot set my wifi interface (wlp6s0) up (using ip link set wlp6s0 up). Nothing is outputted to stdout or stderr, however, I an error arises in dmesg. [ 3641.030579 ] IPv6: ADDRCONF (NETDEV_UP): wlp6s0: link not ready.
  10.
  11. I know that this is not a hardware problem b.c. wifi works fine in my windows partition.
  12.
  13. My ethernet interface (eth0) also returns the same error.
  14.
  15. The wifi interface uses iwlwifi as a driver. iwlwifi is enabled, and I can see it when running lsmod | grep iwlwifi
  16.
  17. I have installed linux-firmware and linux-firmware-network as well as the ipw2100 and ipw2200 firmware packages.
  18.
  19. In /lib/firmware, the following relevant files exist:
  20.
  21. iwlwifi-3160-7.ucode iwlwifi-3160-8.ucode iwlwifi-3160-9.ucode iwlwifi-3160-10.ucode iwlwifi-3160-12.ucode iwlwifi-3160-13.ucode iwlwifi-3160-17.ucode
  22.
  23. I don't know what the cause of this is, but I suspect that is it may be something to do with kernel and libc calls. That is just a guess, but the problem does seem to be a low level issue
